The King’s Surrender is a film about friendship. Two groups; a police SEK unit and a clique of teenagers have each spent every day together for many years. Many dicey situations that they had to go through together have welded them together. The group means support, a refuge, almost a family.
But now danger is imminent. From the inside as well as from the outside. The police unit is to be dissipated for financial reasons, and the clique is threatened with disintegration as it grows up. Their unconditional loyalty is put to the test.
A police operation fails tragically. Since the scapegoat is suspected among the members of the clique, the groups are forced to meet. In a race against time, they all chase after each other, desperate to save their friends, their home and, above all, themselves.
In The King’s Surrender, young people try to hold on to a world that is inexorably falling apart. They risk everything in an almost hopeless struggle to maintain their morale – if that’s the last thing they do.
